What’s it like to see a Doctor?

Check this post to have a rough idea about what to expect.

Procedures to See a Doctor

How much to pay?

With National Health Insurance (NHI Card)
You pay a registration fee and co-payment (outpatient and medication); it is cheaper and more convenient.

Before Getting your card
You will have to pay the full price upfront to see a doctor.

  • family medicine doctor NT$400 at local clinic, NT$800 at hospital
  • Dentist (ex. cavity treatment) NT$800-1000
  • Illness requiring further tests and examinations at hospital, the expense would be NT$2000 or more.

Fortunately, International Student Medical Insurance Policy will offer coverage of potential medical care for the first SIX months (Sept. 11 to March 10), the period when you’re not eligible to National Health Insurance. So make sure to save the doctor’s receipt(s) and ask for a diagnosis certificate (診斷證明).
