imagesThe following information is extremely important.

  1. While internships could bring individuals significant growth, please note, scholarship holders are not allowed to engage in any form of employment not compliant with the Employment Service Act or other relevant regulations, including full-time, part-time job, performing, doing projects for public or private sectors. 
  2. Doing an internship is permitted under the condition he/she complies with the below regulations. If any recipient violates the regulation, his/her scholarship shall be terminated.

Regulations:

  • International students who wish to do internship in Taiwan are required to apply for and obtain a work permit before getting started.
  • According to Ministry of Labor, the requirement of applying a work-permit is based on the fact whether one is employed, NOT whether one receives any payment. Students who serve as volunteer, speaker, performer, teaching assistant are regarded as employees and should hold work permit (no matter whether receive payment or not). Therefore, no matter your job is on/off campus and with/without pay, you must have a valid work permit before starting work. Foreigners who work without a work permit will be fined from NT$30,000 to NT$150, 000.
  • The maximum period validity of a student work permit is six months. For applications made in the first semester, the work permit is valid until March 31 of the following semester; for applications made in the second semester, the work permit is valid until September 30 of the same year.
  • The maximum work hours are 20 hours per week, except during summer and winter breaks.
  • Students should return the work permit (if still valid) to the Office of International Cooperation if they withdraw or take leave from school.

 Work Permit Application Documents:

  2. Photocopy of student ID card (front and back) with registration stamp (attached to the application form directly)
  3. Stamps from OIC on the application form
  4. Original application payment receipt (NT$100)
    • The original receipt from Post Office for service fee (NT$100/ per piece). Applicants may transfer the application fee at a post office or pay at the counter of Workforce Development Agency (WDA)

  5. Photocopies of valid passport and ARC (front and back)
  6. Explanation letter to support your reason for Work Permit application (any one of the followings)
    Ⅰ.  OIC letterexplaining that the applicant has financial difficulty in study or living cost
    Ⅱ.  Letter from IMBA or relevant office, if applicant meets the followings:

    • The academic or research offices at NCCU need international students’ assistance for work
    • Internship required or related to the curriculum
    • Graduate students who have NCCU’s permission to do research work related to the curriculum

Application Procedure:

  1. Fill out the application form and prepare required documents.
  2. Obtain Explanation Letter provided by IMBA or the relevant office.

  3. Go to the Registration Office to stamp on the photocopy of your student ID card (front and back side). Registration Office at 4F, Administration building
  4. Bring the application form and all other required documents at the Office of International Cooperation at 8F of Administration building.
